I have spent the last month running of various Linux distros. For the most part it has been a great experience, and showed me how far Linux has come in the past few years. Alas, Friday I felt I needed to move back to the Windows environment to be truly useful by using some Windows/Mac only programs I need to run for work. Along with that, I miss gaming.
Yesterday I made the official move over to Windows 7. I originally was planning to make a move to Windows 8.1, but I didn’t feel ready to make tiles my main way of navigating an operating system. I also think that Windows 7 is the best operating system that Microsoft has come out with.
So far, I have to say that Windows really is a superior operating system to Linux. Not that Ubuntu and openSuse are not great operating systems. But it really is the little things that add up with operating systems. Everything looks sharper, and integrates a lot better then they have currently achieved with Linux based operating systems. A lot of that is that Microsoft has the budget to pay the best of the best to make sure everything graphics related is amazing. But it is a noticeable difference, even if the functionality of the top Linux distros are about on par with that of Windows and Mac environments.
